The Thunderbolt

The Thunderbolt is an independent music and arts venue on the Bath Road in Totterdown, set in a restored Grade II listed former 1830s tollhouse, The Old Turnpike, with a large rear garden.
Its music policy is broad, taking in indie, folk, punk, country, roots, rock and ska. It hosts Bristol bands alongside national touring acts, and has become an established stop on the UK's small-venue circuit.
Previous visitors include John Parish of PJ Harvey's band, Faces' Ian McLagan, Hugh Cornwell, Miles Hunt, Howe Gelb, John Cooper Clarke, Jerry Dammers and Wilko Johnson, alongside local acts like Yes Rebels, Phantom Limb, Annette Berlin and Ruckus Collective. Its bills often feature former members of big bands, which gives it a slightly older crowd than the city-centre clubs.
It is a good choice for a gig with a proper pub feel, a short walk from Temple Meads.
Upcoming bills include Dwellers with Go Crow Go and Luh Band, Paul Quinn with Adam and the Hellcats, and Deadlight Dance with Carniepunks and Starstruck.
