Mickey Zoggs is a cult pub and café on Surrey Street that has become the go-to pub of the Bristol music scene. It is on the same premises as the legendary Surrey Vaults, now closed.

The big draw is Noods Radio, the much-loved independent station, which broadcasts live from a studio inside. DJs come and go all day with friends in tow, so the bar is a good place to bump into the people behind the city's club nights.

It also serves the city's Italian expat community, with authentic coffee, arancini and lasagne.

Events are semi-regular: Sunday all-dayers, radio takeovers and its notorious Barn Dance. This week there is a Wormhole warm-up before the party at The Island, and No Country For Old Zoggs with Tutamen. Ramble's JONTY & Friends, and a release party for Annis x Crying Outcast, are also on the listings.

It is a short walk from Stokes Croft, so it pairs well with a night at Lakota, Moon Club or The Love Inn.

Programme notes from this snapshot
