Cafe Kino, Stokes Croft — Bristol nightclub

Cafe Kino is a collectively run vegan café and grassroots arts hub at 108 Stokes Croft.

Headfirst describes it as fiercely progressive and unapologetically queer-led. Upstairs is a co-operative café. Downstairs is a basement performance space with a standing capacity of about 75, which hosts DIY punk, hardcore and alt-folk gigs, arts workshops and avant-garde film screenings. Everything is rooted in independence and collective care.

It is not a late-night club, but it is one of the most distinctive small venues in the city and a big part of the Stokes Croft scene, a few doors from bigger venues like The Love Inn and The Croft.

Recent and upcoming events include a Spooky Edition of the Sober Sapphic Pub Quiz, Monkeypaw presents Psych The Kino, a Thaime showcase, a community jam session, Cinema Transexuál's screening of K-Hole and Ghostwatch, and a bill of Honeyglow, Dogviolet and Pebble Daisy.

Expect low prices, a friendly crowd and very small rooms.

Programme notes from this snapshot

Honeyglow + Dogviolet + Pebble Daisy, Fri 23 Oct; Psych The Kino, Sat 24 Oct.
